Since forming in September 2008, under the name Groucutt and Haynes, Robin Groucutt and Dan Haynes have been writing and recording music from a converted garage studio in England’s second city. Making sure at all times not to take themselves to seriously and that their music comes from personal expression rather than a desire for fame, Rob and Dan have been producing a heart felt and poetic folk-rock sound.
Having comparisons drawn to Jack Johnson and Simon & Garfunkel during a BBC Radio interview early in 2009, gave ears a little push in the direction of Groucutt and Haynes. Slowly audiences around the Midlands began to grow and the release of the debut album was keenly awaited. In September 2009, ‘Another Good Reason’ the first full album offering was released to sooth the ears of those who'd awaited it's arrival.
Now many moons on from ‘Another Good Reason’ it seems, that the follow up will come in a slightly different form. With new member’s alongside the writing partnership of Groucutt and Haynes, it appears that the next masterful, heartfelt outburst will come as ‘River City Portrait’. With, as yet an untold drummer blessing the group and Steve Groucutt following in his fathers foot steps to play bass, ‘River City Portrait’ certainly have the capacity for great things.
